The new school year brings a new superintendent for the Sheyenne-New Rockford school district.

Jill Louters comes from southern Minnesota where she was working as a middle school principal. She started July first, and her first school year starts next week. Louters says she specifically wanted to come to North Dakota. She was a finalist for the superintendent job in Devils Lake. She says she spent her first weeks going out into the community to strengthen the ties between New Rockford, Sheyenne and the school.

Louters: "My husband and four children are here with me in our new community and we love it. Again, when we talked about this move we were looking for a community that valued, that exhibited the same characteristics that we value."

Louters oversaw 1,200 students as principal of her former school. The Sheyenne-New Rockford school only has about 350 students.
