Concordia College Cross Country Coach Garrick Larson continues his battle with West Nile one year after he battled Lyme Disease. His progress and recovery are slow.

The disease has sidelined Larson for the past month. What was thought to be just the flu turned out to be a horrible case of West Nile.

He's dealing with a high fever, meningitis and constant fatigue. Typically this time of year Larson is working out with his Concordia runners or getting his children ready for the first day of school. Instead the long time marathon runner is spending a lot of time on the couch.

Larson: "At my age, my health, my activity level you would never think it is possible but if it can happen to me it can happen to anyone."

Most people with West Nile do not even know they have it. Minnesota just reported its first death from West Nile. It was an elderly woman from the west central part of the state.
