East Grand Forks Council members are discussing some hot topics such as the city's public pool as they set the 2013 budget.
The council couldn't come to a unanimous agreement on the budget or the pool but it has one more week to decide what's best for the city.
And that percentage would include a cushion for the pool. In the past, Mayor Lynn Stauss says he would veto anything more than a five percent increase. But Mike Pokrzywinski says he isn't sure how he's going to vote yet. He believes that big of a levy increase is unnecessary because the pool won't be finished by the end of the fiscal year.
The council will have until next Tuesday's meeting to decide, when they will discuss more on the budget. Something separate from the budget issue is the pool feasibility study. The council decided to hire a consultant to complete that study.
