Record enrollment at the University of Minnesota Crookston is causing a housing crunch on campus.
Preliminary reports put enrollment this fall at 1,773 undergraduates. That's the highest enrollment in the history of the campus. The school's 2011 all-time record of 1,600 students. Campus residence halls are at maximum capacity. Lounges and other areas have been converted to student rooms for the semester.
More than 30 students are being housed at the America's Best Value Inn south of campus in Crookston. A new residence hall is under construction right now and should open in January.
