It's back to school for children in Minnesota. Students at schools across East Grand Forks are seeing some big changes this year.
Local teachers have spent all summer preparing to help students learn in a variety of new ways. Both Sacred Heart and East Grand Forks Public Schools have made changes in staff, textbooks and curriculum. Students at public schools are seeing a reduction in the number of bus routes and more fruits and veggies on their lunch trays but the biggest change this year is in the form of new technology. Both Sacred Heart and the public schools have incorporated interactive smart boards into classrooms and staff at East Grand Forks are fully equipped with new iPads to make learning even more hands on.
David Pace, East Grand Forks Superintendent: “When we look at things in East Grand Forks, the new technology and curriculum, there's a lot to look forward to this year”
Enrollment may be a bit down from last year at Sacred Heart but only by about 10 students. So far numbers show that enrollment at East Grand Forks Public schools is up 35 students.
