A Minnesota boat manufacturer will pay nearly $300,000 in back wages to settle allegations of hiring discrimination.

185 women who were rejected for entry level jobs at Lund Boat Company's manufacturing plant in New York Mills will share the money. A US Department of Labor division found Lund failed to ensure that qualified female job applicants were equally considered for jobs without regard to their gender.

In addition to the back pay Lund and its parent company Brunswick Corporation will have to give job offers to at least 27 of the women who were initially denied jobs.
