A simple landscaping job took a ghastly turn for a Fergus Falls family. The homeowners uncovered two gravestones in the garden -- Veterans from the Civil and Spanish American war.

After a little research it turns out that Jacob and his son Amos are not buried in the family’s backyard but resting comfortably at the Oak Grove Cemetery just outside the city. It is believed duplicate stones were made because of a mistake on the first stones and for some reason the monuments were given to the family. That is how they ended up in the family’s garden. The family that found the gravestones hopes to keep them and put them in a special spot in the yard as a conversation and history piece.
