Galle wins Bowling Classic

Joel Galle rolled past the competition en route to the championship of the 17th annual WDAY-WDAZ Bowling Classic.
The final round was held Sunday at Liberty Lanes in East Grand Forks.
Galle, a 31-year-old Cummings, N.D. resident, began the final round as the fifth seed, but won four straight matches, beating top seed Steve Berry of Grand Forks in the championship match, 203-163.
Galle opened the final round with a 211-200 victory over fourth seed Josh Hall of Grand Forks. Galle then edged third seed John Middlestead of Argusville, N.D., 204-203. Galle followed that with a 278-171 triumph over second seed Greg McCullough of Fargo.
The championship victory earned Galle $2,000. Runner-up Berry won $1,000.
