“Lucky,” the dog believed to have been hit by a train was not a victim of animal cruelty, police say.
An investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department has found that Lucky’s owners had left town for a family emergency and the dog had strayed away from it’s temporary caretakers. The dog was later found injured on the railroad tracks west of Fisher, Minnesota. The Sheriff's Department says reports that the dog had been tied to the railroad tracks or abandoned were not true. The dog is recovering at the Crookston Humane Society.
