UND Makes List Of Historical Places

A huge portion of the UND campus is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

A huge portion of the UND campus is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

In total 56 of nearly 80 features in the main campus area made the list. The area was chosen because most of the buildings are still original and have the most extensive collection of collegiate architecture second only to Princeton. Th list includes all the fraternities and sororities.

The historical society says it very unusual for a University to have such a large historic district.

Peg O'Leary/Historical Society:"Their could be some grant money available to help with maintenance, particularly unusual maintenance when they need to do some serious tuck pointing or they need to replace a major roof."

O'Leary says it a very prestigious honor for UND and will be one of the last full districts in Grand Forks to be added to the list.
