A stunning attack in Libya has left four Americans dead, including the US Ambassador.
20 Attackers firing automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades stormed the American Consulate in Benghazi. Inside there were nearly a dozen Americans guarded only by Libyan security. Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed when he and a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to help evacuate staff. Stevens is the first US Ambassador killed in an attack since 1979.
Us Officials believe the incident in Libya and an earlier protest at the US embassy in Cairo, Egypt were triggered by a low-budget anti-Muslim film produced in the US by an Israeli filmmaker who meant for it to be provocative.
