The University of Minnesota Crookston is considered one of the Midwest's Top Regional Colleges. The campus has been ranked in the top four for the past 15 years by US News and World Reports. This year the University moved up from third to second place after being compared to 371 other colleges in the region.

Colleges are ranked according to factors like faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and graduation and retention rates. University officials say they have seen graduation rates grow as well as record enrollment. There are nearly 1,800 students this year compared to 1,600 last year. The University also has added several more degree programs both on campus and online. Online enrollment is up nearly 50% from last year and signs are that will continue to grow.

The University has seen so much growth that some students are housed off-campus, but a new dorm is being built and scheduled to open in December.
