Grand Forks Mayor Michael Brown is under fire for his decision to provide a city department head with a nearly $25,000 raise this year.
City community government relations officer Pete Haga got the raise in May. Prior to the pay increase Haga was making roughly $71,000. Brown says Haga earns every penny of that salary but council members think they should have been consulted beforehand and expressed concerns at a council meeting on September 4th. Haga has held his current position with the city since 2002.
