Former East Grand Forks Fire Chief Randy Gust has dropped out of the Polk County commissioner's race in November.
Gust is taking a part-time job as a building inspector with the Widseth Smith Nolting engineering and architectural office in East Grand Forks and says he won't have time. He also says the job he was offered is a "given" and winning in November is not. Because of Minnesota election law, Gust's name will remain on the November ballot. He says he won't accept the position if he wins.
