Damage to Fiber Optic Line Temporarily Cut Off 911 Service to Regional Cell Customers

The Beltrami Sheriff's Department says that a fiber optic line was damaged this afternoon cutting out 911 service to cell phone customers in more than a dozen counties.
Customers from AT&T, Verizon and Northern PCS were unable to call 911 from Polk, Clearwater, Itasca, Roseau and Lake of the Woods counties Repair crews had the service up and running again by 6pm tonight. Officials say landline calls to 911 were not affected by the accident.
