A Grand Forks man is in custody this evening after leading police on a high-speed chase around the city.
Authorities say 24-year-old Johannes Nielsen failed to stop when an officer tried to initiate a traffic stop just before 11 o'clock last night. He led the Grand Forks Police on a 30-minute chase around the city reaching speeds of 80 miles an hour. Spike strips were deployed and the suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop in the Purpur Arena parking lot. Nielsen was cited for numerous violations including Driving Under Suspension and Reckless Driving. No one was injured in the pursuit.
