North Dakota Firefighter Sentenced for Arson

A North Dakota firefighter has pleaded guilty to attempting to burn down a house that was occupied at the time by four of his children.

A North Dakota firefighter has pleaded guilty to attempting to burn down a house that was occupied at the time by four of his children.

Joseph Morin of Belcourt is charged in federal court with arson for setting fire to his former residence where his wife and eight of his children lived. The incident happened on February fifth. Morin was employed at the time with the Belcourt Rural Fire Department. Authorities say Morin removed all the electrical meters from the house, threw burning paper into the dryer vent and stuffed a towel inside the vent. Morin was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison to be followed by two years of supervised release.
