Grand Forks Street Crews Busy Thanks to Last Night's Snowfall

Crews have been busy since early this morning cutting down and cleaning up broken branches in and around Grand Forks. Park District officials say it could take days to clean up all the debris.

The city Forestry Department has had four crews out sawing and roping down loose branches and picking up debris. Meteorologists say it only takes 3 or 4 inches of snow to add enough weight to trees with leaves on them to break off. This can be a danger to pedestrians, vehicles and homes when some of the bigger branches make their way to the ground. The wind is also a factor as crews try and get to all the areas of town where branches are breaking or loose. Crews will be working until sundown tonight. If you need branches or debris picked up you can call the Grand Forks Park District at 746-2750.
