Herald Columnist Wins 2012 Al Neuharth Award

Marilyn Hagerty is being presented the 2012 Al Neuharth Award for Excellence in the Media today.
The award comes on the heels of Hagerty's appearances on Good Morning America, CNN, Anderson Cooper and "The Today Show" for her story about the grand opening of the Grand Forks Olive Garden. The 86-year-old Grand Forks Herald columnist is being presented the award today by Al Neuharth, the founder of USA Today. The two were classmates at the University of South Dakota. The Neuharth Award honors Hagerty's contribution to journalism.
Past recipients include Katie Couric, Walter Cronkite, Larry King and Tim Russert.
