A Grand Forks attorney is being reprimanded for representing both a defendant accused of aggravated assault and terrorizing the person who was allegedly attacked.
North Dakota's Supreme Court says Blake Hankey had a conflict of interest because he represented someone accused of crimes and the person's alleged victim. Records say Hankey also lied to a Grand Forks County prosecutor when she confronted him about the arrangement. Hankey has a month to pay more than $7,000 in disciplinary costs. Hankey says he withdrew from representation when the incident happened in 2011.
