A North Dakota deputy sheriff has resigned after he was charged with breaking into a Minnesota convenience store.

22-year-old Adam Koenig of Park River resigned his position as a Walsh County Sheriff's Deputy after being arrested last week for a break-in at the Holiday Gas Station in Crookston. Koenig was charged with burglary and damage to property after officers found him hiding inside the convenience store. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Crookston in 2012 with a degree in criminal justice and started the job in Walsh County in September. He was released on a bail of $500 and will have a pretrial appearance January 14.
