Manvel, N.D., residents had a brush with fame early Friday morning — well, sort of.

A tour bus carrying teen pop star Justin Bieber’s personal chef had to make an emergency stop in the small town along Interstate 29 after a wheel on a trailer it was pulling blew out.

“It’s not something you see every day in Manvel,” said Evan Dub, one of the good Samaritans who helped get the bus back on the road.

Dub, 29, pulled into the Manvel Oil Co-Op shortly before 6 a.m. when he noticed the tour bus parked in a precarious position near the gas station.

Bieber played a concert in Winnipeg Thursday night and his bus was on its way to Minneapolis for a Saturday night show when the tire went flat. The bus limped into the gas station parking lot in search of a repair shop, Dub said.

After learning about the bus’s predicament, he said he used a skid-steer loader to get the trailer to a shop at the Manvel Bean Co. to repair the tire.

Brody Hutton, 21, and Shilo Lindemann, 36, showed up for work at the shop and were greeted by the tour bus.

“It was kind of cool,” Hutton said. “Not something you’d expect to see in the morning.”

Hutton and Lindemann repaired the flat and had the bus back on the road by 7:30 a.m.

Though the bus’s occupants stayed inside while they were fixing the tire, the trio did talk to the bus driver. The driver tried to offer payment for the service, but the rescuers wouldn’t hear of it.

“It’s just kind of nice to help somebody,” Hutton said. “We told him to remember where you’re at. Anybody around here will help you if you need it.”

While they didn’t accept a cash payment, Lindemann did request a few Justin Bieber T-shirts.

“I got a niece that’s in love with the Biebs,” he said. “I thought I’d better get her a T-shirt.”

Dub and Lindemann said they don’t listen to Bieber, but that may change.

“After this, I might have to go out and buy an album so I know what he sings,” Lindemann joked.

The trio didn’t get any pictures with the bus so the T-shirts remain the only evidence Bieber’s bus made a stop in Manvel.
