A man was arrested early Sunday morning after a vehicle crash and a reported burglary in Arvilla, N.D.
Grand Forks County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nikko Latavia Haynes, no address given, following the incident, which was reported at 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to the report, Deputy Nathan Moen responded to a call about a vehicle crash in Arvilla. When he arrived, the driver of the vehicle was not there.
At about that time, he was called to a reported disturbance at an Arvilla residence. When he arrived there, he was told that a man had attempted to steal a vehicle from the property.
The deputy saw the suspect enter another vehicle and then leave the scene on foot. Moen and other deputies who had arrived at the scene chased the suspect until he ran into a fence.
Haynes, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant, was taken to Grand Forks County Correctional Center.
Further investigation revealed that several vehicles and a garage in Arvilla had been entered, with a small amount of money taken, according to authorities. The vehicle involved in the crash also had been stolen.
Haynes faces charges of burglary, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, refusing to halt and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to the report.
