Students at Lake Region State College are using a popular movie to raise awareness for people in need.
Students hope to collect a thousand cans and boxes of food during the "Hunger Games" food drive. The school screened the "Hunger Games" movie for students before the food drive. Organizers say they used the competitive spirit shown in the movie as inspiration for the food drive, with classes competing with each other to collect the most food. The food will be donated to the local food pantry at Dakota Prairie Community Action. So far students have collected about 400 food items. They hope to collect 600 more by the time the hunger games drive wraps up on Thursday.
