Staying Safe this Halloween

As children hit up homes in their neighborhood tonight for candy, local law enforcement stresses children, parents and drivers all take extra precaution. Sidewalks will be full of kids in costumes, creating the possibility of chaos.

The Devils Lake police department says the night is one of the busiest of the year, something they hope to avoid this year. They're telling kids to make sure they look both ways before crossing the street, while telling drivers to take it easy in residential neighborhoods. The police department is also preparing for older kids who might celebrate the holiday a little too much by having an extra officer on DUI patrol tonight, but they say they're not expecting too many problems because Halloween falls during the middle of the week this year.
