JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - A Valley City native who was an integral

part of North Dakota sports for more than half a century and the

1958 Drayton American Legion baseball team are being inducted into

the state Sports Hall of Fame.

Induction ceremonies are set July 24 at the Jamestown Civic

Center.

Robert King has coached and played numerous sports but is

perhaps best known for football, for which he has won state,

regional and national awards. He also has served on state and

national athletic boards. He is a member of several halls of fame

and has served as president of the state Sports Hall.

The 1958 Legion baseball team from the small town of Drayton

made it to the national Junior American Legion Tournament.

Then-Gov. John Davis proclaimed Drayton the "Legion Baseball

Capital of North Dakota."
