The city of Crookston is getting a new hotel. The new building will fill a serious need in the community as travelers to the area have been steadily increasing and lodging has gone up more than 20 percent this year alone.

Construction is set to begin in the spring on a 44-room Cobblestone Hotel and Suites. It will be the first Cobblestone Hotel in the state of Minnesota, bringing to the area more options and more occupancy. Crookston currently has three other hotels with a total of 125 rooms available, which can fill up fast when there are events in town. Lodging brings in between ten and twelve million dollars to the community per year. City officials think the increase in visitors is in part because of new events in town like the Cornstock Jamboree, Cowboy Mounted Shooting and Dart Tournaments. The new hotel will be built on the north side of town between the Northland Inn and the UMC Football Field.
