The Mayor of Michigan, North Dakota has resigned after problems stemming from a water billing issue.
Bernie Linstad verbally resigned last friday morning while trying to deal with an ongoing complaint about a small overcharge in a resident’s bill. Valerie Larson is complaining about an unexpected rate hike in her May water bill of 35 dollars. The city maintains that the spike was a result of a new way of billing residents month-to-month. Larson didn't buy it and the argument escalated to the point in which the mayor quit. Mayor Linstad says he will officially resign at a city council meeting tonight. City council president Scott Gilbertson will take over until the city finds a replacement.
