Anglers should expect to find an abundance of fish on Devils Lake this winter.
A Game and Fish netting survey found this year has the highest levels of perch on the lake in ten years. The survey looks at small fish too young to catch but mature fish are also showing strong numbers in Devils Lake. Perch is the fish of choice for many ice fishermen so the news bodes well for the upcoming ice fishing season. Even during a harsh winter the city works to keep access points open for anglers but there should be good fishing anywhere you can get out on the lake.
The start of ice fishing season varies due to conditions on the lake but local officials hope people can get out on the ice by the end of December.
