Synthetic Drugs will soon be illegal in North Dakota. Today, Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem asked the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy to consider putting the products on the list of controlled substances, a list that includes illegal drugs such as marijuana.

The board voted unanimously to add synthetics to that list and in a matter of weeks it will be illegal to not only sell the synthetic drugs, but also have possession of them.

Stenejem: "I reached the conclusion that we cannot wait, even three or four months until the session of the legislature comes in because, the lives and health of citizens in North Dakota and especially our young people are at stake."

There will be a hearing on the matter November 30th, soon after that final action will be taken. Stenehjem expects the law to go into place by the end of November or early December.
