Break-ins, Burglary on the Rise in Devils Lake

Break-ins and burglaries are becoming more common in Devils Lake. Devils Lake police detective Sue Schwab says there have been seven or eight home invasions and car break-ins in the past few weeks.

Break-ins and burglaries are becoming more common in Devils Lake. Devils Lake police detective Sue Schwab says there have been seven or eight home invasions and car break-ins in the past few weeks.

She says the items most often taken are wallets and purses, although one homeowner reported having guns stolen. Schwab says it's unclear why there have been more burglaries in town. The police are asking the public to pay extra attention and report anything suspicious. To report suspicious activity in Devils Lake, call crime stoppers at 662-0739.
