Two historic downtown Crookston buildings are getting the wrecking ball this week. Crews have started tearing down the Z-Place and the former Rock's jewelry building.
The two buildings have been sitting on the corner of Main Avenue and Robert Street for about a century. The county acquired the crumbling Z-Place building through tax forfeiture and bought the attached building this summer. The city recently tore down a historic hotel on the same street. The county is now working with the city of Crookston about what will be done with the remaining empty lot.
