Plummer, MN Man Back in Custody After Escaping From Sentence to Serve Crew

A man is back in jail in Crookston after escaping custody and eluding law enforcement around the city of Oklee for 3 hours. 26-year-old Michael Brekke of Plummer, MN escaped from his 'sentence to serve' work crew around 9am Monday morning.

A man is back in jail in Crookston after escaping custody and eluding law enforcement around the city of Oklee for 3 hours. 26-year-old Michael Brekke of Plummer, MN escaped from his 'sentence to serve' work crew around 9am Monday morning.

Brekee fled on foot from the work site in Oklee and hitched a ride to family member's residence in Plummer. Residents, businesses and schools were alerted to Brekke's escape. Officers, state patrol and correctional facility staff searched the city for Brekke. Three hours later, Brekke's father returned him to law enforcement custody in Oklee. Brekke was serving a sentence at the Tri County Correctional Facility in Crookston for forgery and theft. He was immediately transported back to jail in Crookston. Brekke will likely face additional criminal charges for his escape from custody.
