Grand Forks' public smoking laws will be stricter following a city council vote.
The city really had no choice whether to approve the laws because of the state-wide smoking ban passed earlier this month. City leaders are taking the local ordinance and incorporating the new state law but the new provisions are raising questions and have some wondering whether it will really better the city. A 60 vote majority is needed in the legislature to do a change to a referendum, which city leaders say could happen if this new provision causes a problem. Melanie Orlins Reports.
