Senator Byron Dorgan visited the new V-A outpatient clinic in Grand Forks today to talk about health care reform and prescription drugs. Something he says needs to be addressed now.
Dorgan says we need to put pressure on the drug and insurance companies and he has a plan to help.
Dorgan has been working with 30 other lawmakers to draft an amendment that would put pressure on companies to force them to lower drug costs.
He says there are too many misconceptions about a health care reform.
He says for one veteran benefits will not be diminished in a health care bill.
Byron Dorgan:"The amendment will allow American consumers to access the FDA approved prescription drugs from a list of other countries that have a chain of custody similar to ours."
Dorgan says he hopes a health care reform bill will go to the president by late November early December.
