Mello Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison
A Crookston man was sentenced today to 20 years in prison today for second degree murder in a 2011 crash that killed a Thief River Falls man.
A Crookston man was sentenced today to 20 years in prison today for second degree murder in a 2011 crash that killed a Thief River Falls man.
24-year-old Ricardo Mello of Crookston was sentenced in Polk County District Court for killing a man after he stole a police car in downtown Crookston, then lost control of the vehicle, hitting a pickup. The crash killed 78-year-old Eddie Briggs of Thief River Falls. Judge Micheal Kraker also ordered Mello to submit a DNA sample, revoked his rights to ever own a firearm and ordered Mello to pay more than $36,000 in restitution.
