The Salvation Army in Grand Forks also has a big goal its trying to reach this holiday season. Over the next month they are hoping to raise $365,000 for the Christmas season.

So far the organization has raised only about $50,000, mostly through kettle and mail in donations. There are 14 bell ringing sites in Grand Forks. One of the challenges today is that people don't carry as much cash as in years past, so the Salvation Army is now looking at bringing in credit card machines to some bell-ringing locations.

The money raised during the holidays goes to buy food and toys for families in need. It also provides funds for the Army to start the new year.
