A small police department in central Minnesota is dealing with a very large loss tonight. 31-year-old officer Tom Decker was ambushed while responding to an ordinary call last night. He was shot and killed, leaving the Decker family devastated. Investigators were at the crime scene all day. 34-year-old Ryan Larson is charged with second degree murder.

Decker's body was accompanied by a police escort to and from St. Paul today for a preliminary autopsy. About 30 cars with lights flashing were alongside on the road back to Cold Spring. Chief Phil Jones says Decker's body will be guarded 24 hours a day until his funeral. The funeral hasn't been scheduled yet. If you are interested in helping the Decker family, a memorial fund has been set up at all Wells Fargo locations.
