Debra Bjerk is speaking out about her son's synthetic drug overdose. Debra's son Christian Bjerk is just one local teen who died after taking synthetic drugs in Grand Forks, and today the state pharmacy board made a unanimous vote to add more of those drugs on a black list.

The board banned new substances that have been identified by the state crime lab as synthetic drugs. Officials, parents and former drug users testified on the harmful and deadly impacts these drugs have had on their families. Debra Bjerk's son died after taking a synthetic drug at a Grand Forks party.

The pharmacy board used an emergency rule two years ago to outlaw several chemicals and the state Legislature added more substances during the 2011 session. Today's ruling bans all chemicals used to make synthetic drugs that officials are aware of.
