East Grand Forks Council Passes Budget Without Pool Repair Funding

The East Grand Forks city pool may be in jeopardy after tonight's council meeting. Council members passed an amendment to the final budget and it doesn't include any money to fix the pool over the next year. Erasing that fund also changes the final levy total.

The East Grand Forks city pool may be in jeopardy after tonight's council meeting. Council members passed an amendment to the final budget and it doesn't include any money to fix the pool over the next year. Erasing that fund also changes the final levy total.

This amendment was proposed by Marc DeMers, someone who in the past has supported fixing the pool. But he says after listening to what people on the east side want, he thinks it's better to wait. Taking the money out of the pool fund also changes the final levy to one percent less than it was in 2012, Meaning the city tax levy will not go up. Melanie Orlins has more.
