Grand Forks School District Gathers Input From Parents

Like most school districts in North Dakota, Grand Forks is dealing with declining enrollment. That was one of the topics talked about at a public forum held tonight. People came out to talk about how to respond to the decline and what could be done to reverse it. The Grand Forks and Air Force Base districts have 30 percent fewer students now than they did 15 years ago. But superintendent Larry Nybladh says despite the drop in enrollment, the districts are in a good position right now.

Dr. Larry Nybladh/Superintendent: "I wouldn't say that we're in a crisis. We have the critical mass in terms of the size of our school district to have made reasonable adjustments in our operations over time to be able to ameliorate some of those problems."

This forum is part of an Organizational Analysis Study. A third party will use the data from tonight to help the district develop action plans for the future.
