A Warroad High School teacher on administrative leave for an allegation involving a student has resigned.

Amy Haataja has been on paid administrative leave since January 15.

The Warroad school board accepted her resignation Monday night. It was effective January 31.

Superintendent Craig Oftedahl says a student made the complaint against Haataja...who was a science teacher at the high school.

Oftedahl would not comment on the circumstances surrounding Haataja's suspension, or on the school's investigation which is now closed.

Oftedahl had previously stated there was no criminal investigation into the allegations.

He says this was Haataja's first year teaching in at Warroad High School.

Craig OftedahlWarroad Superintendent: "The resignation that she has given is going to be accepted by the board and once that is accepted the matter will be closed."

The school district is looking for a replacement for Haataja, and hopes to have a long-term substitute by the end of the week.
