Grand Forks Initiative Aims to Take Advantage of Oil Boom Potential

110 Grand Forks companies are doing business in Western North Dakota and that number is expected to grow. Locally, an initiative has started called "Expand East - Do Business West" to build relationships with companies in the western part of the state.

Hundreds of people in Grand Forks learned more about job opportunities and economic potential associated with the thriving oil industry in Western North Dakota. Today's meeting focused on what job opportunities will be popping up over the next 30 years. Officials say they expect to see 5,000-10,000 job openings a year just in the Williston area. Local companies like Wells Concrete are currently making 80 percent of their sales in Williston.
