A man led police on a high speed chase across state lines, then fled and crashed through ice into the frigid Red River.

A man led police on a high speed chase across state lines, then fled and crashed through ice into the frigid Red River.

Police tried to pull the suspect over for a traffic violation in Moorhead but he sped away into Fargo. The vehicle then went off the road. The man ran onto thin ice, falling through near 1st Avenue North around 2:45 Friday morning. He was in the cold water for a couple minutes before grabbing a rope officers threw to him. The man faces charges including felony fleeing. His name hasn't been released. He's being treated at Sanford.
