The Polk County Sheriff's Department is investigating burglary at a rural church.
Many members of the Melo Lutheran Church in Polk County are asking who would do such a thing? Several sculptures, Sunday school money and even the Christmas tree were stolen. Authorities may be close to answering that question. The Pennington County Sheriff's department found some of the stolen items while making two arrests on a public disturbance call last friday.
35-year-old Myron Sunram of Thief River Falls and 18-year-old Paige Lofberg of Newfolden were arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance after drug paraphernalia with methamphetamine residue was seized. Police say Sunram had a bag which contained stolen items from the church. Other items were also found in the car belonging to Lofberg. Not all of the items taken from the church have been recovered though. They include a bible, several sculptures and items from the kitchen. Both the Polk county and Pennington County Sheriff's Departments are investigating.
