The Centre Cinema in Rugby, once in danger of closing, has been saved thanks to an outpouring of community support.
The Rugby Job Development Authority is buying the 90-year-old building and will pay for a costly upgrade to digital projection. The current owner of the Centre Cinema would have been forced to shut the theater down at the end of the year if the city didn't step in to buy it. The timetable for works has not yet been set but the first step will be to upgrade the old electrical system, and that work is scheduled to begin after new year's. If you'd like to help you can send donations to the Community Foundation or the Job Development Agency.
