Police arrested a man after a 33 hour standoff in New Town, North Dakota.

Police arrested a man after a 33 hour standoff in New Town, North Dakota.

Authorities had to demolish the walls of a tribal-owned home to get to 32-year-old Michael Smith. Smith walked out of the home around ten this morning. He broke into the home early Wednesday morning, and temporarily held the family hostage. Smith was wanted in Colorado on charges mostly dealing with narcotics. He was believed to be heavily armed. Schools and colleges in the area were forced into lockdown most of the day.
