Quitting smoking isn't easy. Some people in Grand Forks are taking that step toward learning more about quitting with Freedom From Smoking classes.

Students go through 8 sessions. They learn what kind of smoker they are and what triggers them to want to smoke. They also develop a quit plan and help keep each other from relapsing. Students say a smoking ban in Grand Forks may help people want to quit, but it may be met with a lot of resentment at first.

Harry Feilen/Smoker: "Some think it's ridiculous, I guess I'm probably the exception to the few that smoke-I don't mind the ban in bars. My wife does not smoke and we've been to bars and come home smelling like a smoked cigarette."

A smoking ban is still just an idea. Smoking is still allowed in businesses like bars and truck stops in Grand Forks.
