Hunters in northwestern Minnesota still have time to get their elk hunting done. The DNR is extending the elk season beginning tomorrow to control the population.

If harvest goals are not met during the regular seasons, rules allow for the extension. Hunters in the Grygla or Kittson central zones who did not shoot an elk can hunt during this extended season. In the Kittson zone hunters can choose to hunt either tomorrow through Tuesday or Thursday through Sunday the 20th. In the Grygla zone hunters have a full nine day period beginning tomorrow.
