Crookston Woman Charged with Felony Theft From Humane Society

A Crookston woman has been arrested after a nearly year-long investigation into alleged embezzlement at the Humane Society of Polk County, Crookston Police said today.

A Crookston woman has been arrested after a nearly year-long investigation into alleged embezzlement at the Humane Society of Polk County, Crookston Police said today.

Tracy Janisch, 26, was charged with felony theft, according to the report.

Crookston police began investigating possible embezzlement on Jan. 31, 2012, after receiving information from the humane society.

During the course of the investigation, police said, it was determined that more than $30,000 had been taken from the humane society and financial records had been falsified between the summer of 2009 and January 2012.

Janisch is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 6, according to police.
